We took a step back, carefully and honestly evaluating the limitations, frustrations, and growth opportunities within the South African consumer market. We clearly identified the below assumptions:
  • The Premium spirit categories across most spirit types are showing consistent sales growth year on year, and the growth trajectory would increase over the next couple of years
  • There's a clear lack of variety within the premium spirit segments.
  • Most of the brands operating within the premium categories, showed no or little value motivation for consumers and where unable to communicate or enable their brands to resonate with the consumer markets.
  • A lot of suppliers are showing a weakness in and lack of commercial flexibility, which is vital to operate effectively in a fast changing commercial environment.
  • Brand managers and brand owners are totally disconnected from their consumers and target market.
  • The industry is in a disconnect in terms of strategic planning to grow the premium spirit categories.
  • High volume brands continue to overshadow strategic planning and brand development programs & resources.
  • Industry operators showed poor levels of understanding in terms of effective value proposition and development.
  • Consumers are evolving and looking for brand credentials, personality, history and values that resonate with them. Brand management and brand owners need to be able to target multiple markets simultaneously whilst maintaining consumer aspiration.

This is how Liquid 2 Lip came about. There is a clear gap in the market for an exclusively premium liquor company, that is dedicated and focused on operating in those categories only. Our portfolio represents brands in all spirit categories, all our brands are award winners with great history, strong innovation, unique sales propositions and is dynamic in terms of its ability to resonate with consumers. We have taken that same approach in terms of our entire commercial and operational structures, by contracting the best market leading companies and individuals in their selected fields of expertise ultimately delivering not only premium brands, but premium service and operations too. We are looking long-term, driving the capability development of individuals in the industry, thus ensuring the recognition of those involved as well as creating better, higher paid jobs for those in the hospitality industry.
 

Sales Operations

Liquid 2 Lip Brands consists of 4 operational divisions:

  • Imports - Distribution within South Africa.
  • Exports - International Distribution.
  • Incubation - Current global companies with existing distributors, looking at expanding their ranges within the SA market, without loosing focus on their current brand representation.
  • Private label / brand  - Assists in the sourcing and development of private label brands for local and international markets .
